Is Jackson Hole accessible?

Wyoming

In late august 2022 we flew to Denver, and then we flew to Jackson Hole Airport in Wyoming. The airport was striking with the magnificent view of the Tetons.

Jackson Hole is a big ski destination with Grand Teton National Park, Yellowstone National Park and more nearby. They offer adaptive skiing, which makes me laugh because there are no wheelchair accessible vans for 100 miles, or that’s what we were told over the phone. Meaning, there is no way for those with accessibility needs to get there. Major face palm. UPDATE START is the local transportation bus that’s ADA accessible. We ended up renting a minivan at the airport, because my sister would be joining us  later in the trip and she could help with transferring me in and out of the minivan. From experience, plan any adaptive transportation before booking flights!

Fast forward

We stayed one night at the Snow King Resort in downtown Jackson Hole. Honestly, I wish we had stayed in this area longer so we had more time to explore the town. At this point in our travels, I was excited for vegetables. I never thought I’d be excited for a piece of broccoli. To my surprise, Jackson Hole had a few vegan restaurants. Hand Fire Pizza made delicious vegan pizzas! My favorite restaurant was Healthy Being, they had grain bowls, sandwiches and fresh pressed juice drinks. We even brought some to eat on the plane ride home!

The room in Jackson Hole was ADA with a roll in shower. I had a whole bed to myself with fluffy pillows, which was just what my back needed at the end of the day. We stayed here the night before we flew home. Read my other posts where I talk about my visit to the Grand Tetons and Yellowstone for more ideas on where to stay!
