Wolfgang cute day trip for Christmas Market

St. Wolfgang

We met a tour group in Salzburg and they drove us to St Wolfgang. At Wolfgangsee Lake were filming scenes for The Sound of Music (here’s 15 Sound Of Music filming locations you can visit). When we drove to the end of the lake, there was this little village with a Christmas market, packed with people who traveled from across the lake. We just had enough time to walk through the crowds; tripping a few people who were oblivious to my wheelchair. #sorrynotsorry #shortgirlproblems! (I’m tall too!)

Carriage ride

We used Panorama tours out of Salzburg; they drove us to St Wolfgang for a private Horse drawn sleigh ride. For anyone staying in St Wolfgang here is a Carriage Ride option. We took a horse drawn carriage ride! It totally was not accessible at all. My sister, the driver, my mom and the tour guide all helped me up onto the carriage seat.

The tour guide put my chair in the van for safe keeping, which wasn’t accessible either. The carriage ride went down a long road next to the lake. We stopped and driver gave us a shot of his homemade whiskey, man was it good. At the end, the horse gave me a sloppy kiss!

Rest stop

Then, back to Salzburg. Then we got in our car and headed for Munich. We stopped at a highway rest stop; it had a restaurant, gift shop, bakery / coffee bar, accessible bathrooms and a playground, at home our rest stops have prostitution and expensive fast food. We ate burgers, not McDonald’s burgers, real fresh burgers; and used their accessible bathroom.

Then drove to our airport hotel where the hotel gave us, was a non-accessible room. I couldn’t even fit my chair between the doors in the bathroom, but it was late, I was exhausted and we were leaving early the next morning. I didn’t even have it in me to care. I can’t judge this hotel, didn’t stay long enough.
